I have recently been working with an especially high intensity prismatic reflective sheeting that glows as it reflects light from certain angles. The five columns on either side of the Louisiana Avenue platform’s staircase would have recessed colored LEDs hidden in channels, which beam colored light onto the sheeting. Each column will have a sensor on both sides. As trains pulls into the station, detectors will sense their motion, switching on the lights on the opposite side of the staircase. As they leave the station, the lights turn off.
